It's time to upgrade our desktop dinosaur. We want a PC and we'd like to spend under $500. What are the best Black Friday deals--or are there deals before Black Friday? Thanks!

One great deal online is from Dell. They are offering a Dell Inspiron 570 on Black Friday. They will be selling 1000 of these online. This computer has Windows 7, 3gb and flat screen monitor. Definitely a great little machine to take a look at.

Now if you would rather have a laptop Best Buy has a great deal on a Sony Vaio 15.5" Laptop w/Intel Dual-Core Processor, 4GB RAM, 320GB HD Bundle - $499.99.

I have also included a great deal on a Aspire Laptop from Walmart and this one will be online and in store the day after Thanksgiving.

I need a recommendation on a device that lets you take film negatives and save them digitally. (I can use my scanner but I want something smaller and with better resolution) Thanks!

My feeling on scanners is an expenisive one. I feel that in this category you get what you pay for. So I always recommend the Plusteks. You will may more but your images will come out crisper and cleaner. Poorly scanned images just take all your work and make it look like a point and click disposable camera.

Those are great but not what I was looking for. I have negatives from when I used my regular 35 mm camera. I'd like to save them in a digital format. I think I've seen devices that let you do this--sort of like a mini scanner that saves it to an SD card? I don't need to change my regular camera into a digital (cool option though!) since I do have a digital one.

I'm planning a garden--it's a shaded site. I need a mix of greenery and flowers that bloom spring to fall. Zone 5 and about 400 sq feet. Suggestions please!

One thing I suggest is planting Perennials that will come up yearly. We just did the outside around our house and it is sooo pretty! I love lots of color and I like my flower bed pretty full. One I love is the Himalayan Primula. These are a deep red ruby color and love shade! Also work great in zone 5. Another one is the Barren Strawberry. They have the most beautiful yellow flowers and tolerate alot of abuse. Also great in the shade! Remember on each one to look at the size they will grow so you make sure you space them out correctly! I then usually add red bark around all my flowers and it really makes the colors beautiful. And if you really want to get something good is there is watering hoses you can put under the bark and you just turn on and water which saves you hauling water!
