I found the seed packets for sale at Horizon Herbs selling for $3.95 per packet!
specifics:
Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens)
Family: Ericaceae
Hardiness: - 30 degrees F
Native to N. US and Canada. Glossy-leaved groundcover with waxy, drooping bell flowers that give way to fat red berries. Source of the compound methyl salicylate. Used for treating arthritis, headache and colds. Plant prefers partial sun and an acid, boggy soil. Sow in fall or early spring. Press tiny seed into surface of acid (peaty) potting soil. Slow and irregular germination, but has proven do-able in our experience. Space plants 1 foot apart. Grows to about 6 inches tall. 50 seeds per packet, open pollinated
