Walmart is the one who has the best deal on this Emerson 42" Plasma 720p HDTV on black Friday for $448.
Emerson is a brand under the Funai family of products. They also make products under the Philips and Sylvania brands. The funniest thing I noticed when doing some searching is that Emerson doesn’t make any 42″ televisions. The largest television they’ve made all year is 32 inches. Also they don’t make any plasma televisions so I really had to think long and hard about what’s going on here. This is what I came up with.
What gives with this TV? It isn’t made by Emerson at all. My bet is that Walmart reached out to Samsung for a cheap television and Walmart was able to license the Emerson name so Samsung wasn’t putting this television out under their own name. [Proof - Samsung does the same thing for Best Buy's line of plasma televisions. They have different model numbers but when you try to get parts for it, they are Samsung part numbers]
What kind of specs will it have? From the circular making it’s way all over the web it is known that it will have 2 HDMI inputs, and 1 PC connection but what about the rest? By looking at the Insignia NS-P42Q10A (notice the similarity in the model number???) chances are it will share specs:
