The basic difference between the 120 and 240 is the refresh rate. At the higher number the image should have less "blur" when motion is involved. With the decrease in blur there can be a somewhat artificial look to the display. This is a mild tradeoff. My suggestion would be to do a comparison viewing at a local Best Buy or other TV retailer. We recently purchased a new TV and spent time at the store comparing images and actual size of display. You will be able to "see" which appeals to you more. It's not a cut and dried choice of one being better than the other. (If you tend to watch lots of action and sports you may want to consider the 240hz) For some technical details about the two check out this article.

Depending on the size that you select you'll see a significant difference in price. Selections vary in price from just over $1600 to almost $4000. The Samsung is the highest rated.  It  offers a 55" LED ,widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio, Touch of Color, reflective acrylic bezel,Ultra Clear LCD panel (1920 x 1080 pixels), LED edge backlight for high contrast and natural colors, Auto Motion Plus 240Hz, anti-blur technology for clearer motion, 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 2-millisecond pixel response time and much more...

Hope this helps you pick the perfect TV for your viewing pleasure!
