Although, Verizon is know to be a bit on the expensive side but to the best of my knowledge they have the best national coverage.  T-Mobile would be my second choice for the best coverage. I have several friends that use Verizon and they travel a lot and they are very happy with the coverage. For your convenience here is the Verizon Web site http://www.verizonwireless.com.
