My friend just bought the DC17 Animal yesterday. It works great! She loves the way it handles and the instructions were easy to follow. She I would recommend this over all the rest. The Dyson DC07 is also a refurbished model for all floor types It has double the suction of other vacuums and tests show Dyson's suction is double after just ten ounces of dust. Never worry about extra costs for filters that don't clog and no bags to buy.
