Dishwashers, as I'm sure you've come to realize with your shopping, come in a wide variety of prices and features. However, many of the best-reviewed dishwashers don't necessarily come with all the bells and whistles, but consistently work quietly and powerfully to get your dishes clean. Isn't that really what it's all about? 
The best value priced dishwasher reviewed was the Kenmore 13742. While it doesn't have a stainless steel tub, it also performs quietly at about half the price of fancier dishwashers. It runs around $700.
If you want a true top of the line, the Bosch SHX98M09UC, along with all other Bosch models, rate as the quietest. It's also very expensive, at about $1,500, but it pulls out all the stops. It has adjustable racks withfold-down tines and a cup shelf. You can save water with its quick-wash  and  half-load cycles.  A soil sensor also conserves water. The Energy Star-rated Bosch SHX98M09UC features astainless-steel design and stylish hidden controls.Meanwhile, the best -reviewed lower end dishwasher is the Whirlpool DU1055XTVQ. It's not quiet and it's not stainless steel, but it will get your dishes squeaky clean for around $400.
Personally, I'd go for the Kenmore. It's not much more, but I think the extra features and the quietness make it a very good choice, for much less than more luxurious models.
