The TV you purchase will not have a lot to do with your reception. If you do not have cable or satellite, your reception will depend a lot on your antenna, also your location. If you are around mountains or tall buildings, your reception might be a bit compromised.

Some antennas that will help you out with your reception include:

The Philips MANT940 Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna incorporates a scientifically designed flat UHF panel array to improve analog and digital HDTV UHF reception. The MANT940 uses a low-noise, optimum gain amplifier and is weather resistant and paintable to match your interior or exterior decor.

The high-performance Amplified HDTV Outdoor Antenna is a powerful yet compact antenna for both UHF and VHF local reception of channedl 2 through 69, so you'll be able to enjoy free local HDTV broadcasts. The Amplified HDTV Outdoor Antenna connects to your television via coaxial cable (not included). This compact, amplified, highly directional VHF/UHF anteena utilizes a log periodic UHF element with VHF rear reflector element.

Philips USA PH-DTV1 Indoor HDTV/UHF Silver Sensor Antenna has a highly directional reception and even-response design, flat forward gain slope delivers balanced reception throughout UHF and is extremely easy to install.
Hope this helps!

One way to do this is to keep your current TV and Antena,  buy a converter box and you will be good to go, hook up is simple just like hooking up a VCR you can find converter box at walmart for about $30 checkout the goverment coupon program at http://www.HDTV.Gov with a coupon you will only be out $10.
