You can't go wrong with Vosges gourmet chocolate. I know...candy sounds cliche, but this is different. The exotic truffles with cayenne and cumin are unique. And if that's too wild, try the caramels...truly delicious. If you think, "My mom just wouldn't appreciate this all..she'd rather have a Hershey bar," then send an Edible Arrangement. They are lovely and rather tasty (in a "Hershy" kind of way). The neighbors will envy her.

I'm also a big fan of setting up mom with the latest in technology. Until last year my mom was listening to cassette tapes in her kitchen (and we'd be unraveling the tape every hour after the machine ate it up. Not she's hooked up with an iPod and speakers.

Finally a massage, pedicure, or cleaning service is a good way to go. I want all three.
