Hello and thanks for your question!
For the DSi you'll need a standard SD card for operation. Depending on how much you use the other features of the DSi will determine the size that you want. A 2GB card is usually enough for the casual user though of course you'll want more for heavy use.
Some of the cards are SDHC and are compatible with the DSi since the technologies have been developed right around the same time. Also, these should work just as well as the specialized cards. Really (IMO) when you buy the nintendo brand cards you're paying for name. It's a way to keep you buying inside. Check out Nintendo's website for more info.
Of all these I recommend the 8GB card because it is SDHC and you get the most bang for your buck.
I hope this helps!

One kind you can get is a SanDisk SDHC 4GB memory card for Nintendo DSI. Toys R Us is one place that sells them. Also Amazon and Newegg carry the SanDisk SDHC 8 GB memory card for the Nintendo DS. One thing I like about Amazon is so many times you can get the fee shipping which is great too. The advantage of the 8 GB is you can hold alot more.
Hope this helps you! Have a great weekend!
