Hi, and thank you for choosing IMShopping!

There are many varieties of jewelry boxes available to choose from.

The Eleanor Wooden Jewelry Box is very simple, but very elegant as well:

  • Made of solid wood and finished in a deep cherry
  • Crush-resistant nylon velvet lines the interior
  • Solid brass pulls on large bottom storage drawer
  • Complete with section for rings, earrings, and necklace storage with pouch
  • Dimensions: 11L x 6.75W x 4.5H Inches
The ShalinCraft Jewelry Box is very unique with an old timey feel:

These wooden jewelry boxes are made by the very same craftsmen who are acclaimed for making intricate design wooden blocks for printing Indian sarees. Carving wooden blocks for the handblock printers art is a special skill. Many artisans who provide these blocks to printers have become highly skilled in the art of carving and also using brass with wood to fashion blocks to print finer lines and motifs.

The Mele Richmond Jewelry Box is more sophisticated, elegant, and classic:
  • Sophisticated, classic style
  • Wooden construction with walnut finish
  • Three undivided jewelry storage drawers
  • Dual glass swing-out doors with necklace hooks
  • Ring roll behind glass display window
  • Lift lid has a large mirror
  • Hand-lined sand suede fabric protects your treasures
  • Size: 12 3/8W x 5 5/8D x 15 3/4H inches
I hope these suggestions are to your liking.  If you have more questions, ask IMShopping!

There are a lot of different kinds of jewelry boxes, but for me I like to have the following properties in any jewelry box that I buy:

it has to have something to hang the chains on - otherwise they will get tangled up in my box - some jewelry boxes have sides that open up with hooks for hanging the chains, others have snap tabs on the inside of the lid and the chains are held in the bottom in a little pocket - either way, I gotta have those little hooks!

it has to have a separate compartment for pearls that is lined with a soft material - i like satin because i'm a romantic and the satin reflects the luster of the pearls.  they just look beautiful in there. :)  but mainly, you need a separate compartment where earring backs or sticky things won't scratch your pearls

there has to be a compartment for earrings where i can easily slide my earrings into place without having to remove and replace the backings, and where they can be stabilized so that they don't scratch each other

i like the ring compartment as well where i can set my rings in between the raised felt so that they are pointing up in a nice little row :).  this way, they don't scratch each other as well.

some jewelry boxes have a place for sterling silver to retard tarnishing.  you can keep sterling silver from tarnishing by keeping it in an airtight container and placing some anti-tarnish tissue paper in with it.  you can also store them in zip closure plastic bags to keep your sterling silver nice and shiny.

one more thing to consider is the safety of small children in your home.  if you have kids that put little things in their mouths, you may want to consider a locking one.

bottom line for me is when looking for something to store my nice jewelry in (i'm a jewelry designer) i don't want to buy a box with a bunch of drawers or, heaven forbid, just a box with no separators at all like a trinket box, no matter how much character it has.  i want something that will separate, protect, and pamper my jewelry. :)

here are a couple that show some of  the things i was talking about

best wishes!

Comment by TBella: this is one i really like. in one of the pics, it shows the sides open and you can see there is a tab at the bottom to hold the chains in. this is VERY important. some of the cheaper jewelry boxes don't have these and the chains can get kinked and bent if they get caught between the door and the jewelry box base when opening and closing the side panels.

Comment by TBella: This one is a dream! Anti-tarnish action and tons of separated spaces to keep everything from scratching. the earrings look like a bit of work though... About anti-tarnish = air equals tarnish so think of it more as discouraging tarnishing... here is the description: The deluxe,anti-tarnish gold and Silver Safekeeper(R) jewelry box lets you see your entire collection at a glance, protected from tarnish, neatly arranged, and ready to wear. The beautiful box can store over 350 pieces of jewelry. Wood-framed, mirror on tilt-back lid, Magnetic closures on drawers. MDF, Wood and wood veneer construction. Silver finish knobs. Measures 15-1/2"L x 12"H x 9-1/2"W .
