Treatment for chigger bites consists of reducing discomfort (itching) and preventing infection. Keep the area clean with soap and water, then apply your an over the counter anti-itch medication, such as hydrocortisone cream or Calamine lotion. Oral Benadryl and oatmeal baths may also help. To avoid the possibility of infection, avoid scratching the affected areas.I like the Aveeno Maximum Strength Hydrocortisone. It contains natural colloidal oatmeal, so you get the anti-itch effects of the hydrocortisone coupled with soothing oatmeal.
