avent bottles are supposed to be some of the best on the line and reduce colic. The problem alot of my friends have found with them are they are too hard and the baby wants something softer and closer to the real thing. Its only natural instinct for them.

I have included some different reviews for you to look at.

Comments about Avent BPA Free Bottle - 9 oz - 2 pk:

I bought these without reading the reviews. Not a good idea. They really do leak. We have tried every way possible to screw the nipple on and 8 times out of ten the bottle leaked terrible. Not just little drips but a good soaking. I know some people say it is user error but even if it is who wants to fuss that much over a bottle. Buy anything but this brand if you want to not lose your mind. I now use Born Free and the madness stopped.

Comments about Avent BPA Free Bottle - 9 oz - 2 pk:

We used these advent bottles for our twins for over a year. I love the size of the bottle and the fact that the nipple shape is close to the breast. The babies took the bottles with no problem. The problem is that they leak. Not a little leak from the nipple, huge spills from underneath the white ring. It seems to be a suction issue. When the baby drinks, if the nipple/ring isn't exactly right, the liquid pours out from under the white ring.

I even went so far as to call Avent and see if they were defective or if we were not doing something right. They told me the powder from the formula may be getting in the way on the neck of the bottle. I never used the powder, only the liquid so that couldn't be it. They said you have to tighten it 'just right' - well, after many many months of trying to find that just right, i'm getting rid of all my avent bottles and getting the born free ones.

I dont like the size of the large born free bottle as much (bigger and clunkier to hold) but it doesn't leak. It is actually incredible how often and how much the avent bottles leak. I've never written a product comment before but this situation motivated me. Avent has a great reputation for a great bottle. And overall, it is a good bottle. But it's a bottle. It's one job it to dispense liquid. It shouldn't leak and unfortunatly it does. It leaks. It leaks a lot and it leaks often. It's very frustrating to have to change your babies clothes and wipe formula/milk off the furniture because the bottle is leaking.

Comments about Philips AVENT BPA-Free Natural Feeding Bottle 2-Pack - 9 oz.:

I pumped for a week to have a full bottle to feed my son on our first plane ride. I was never really happy with the bottles but had a bunch from my shower. As we are taking off I begin to feed him. The bottle of course starts leaking ( I did test to make sure it was on correctly but when you hold it at just the right angle it leaks). My son is soaking wet, the precious breast milk is wasted. I wanted to throw the bottle at the head of the CEO of Avent.

Leaks worse than the 4 oz. I will never buy a product from this company again. These bottles weren't cheap, and neither is formula. Can't afford to waste my money.

Comments about Philips AVENT BPA-Free Natural Feeding Bottle 2-Pack - 9 oz.:

I tried two bottle types, Avent and Born Free. For some reason, when my son ate from the Avent bottle, a large amount of formula would drip or run off his chin. The Born Free bottles didn't do this so I got rid of my Avent bottles.

I have personally used Avent bottles with my 5 month old little girl. I like them, she doesn't. The nipples on them are hard and she prefers softer nipples. But here are some ratings from other people:

http://babyproducts.about.com

On this website, the Avent Bottles receive 3 stars out of 12 ratings. Some of the comments include:

"I bought 6 of these bottles because I had a colicy baby and was desperate to find some relief. The package makes wonderful claims on reducing colic so I bought them. Needless to say the colic was not "reduced".
Even worse... ALL the bottles leak
"

"Avent Bottles were preferred by all three of my babies. My third would rather starve than eat from another bottle"

"
I went from breast to bottle and my daughter was able to transition SO easily. She could easily go from breast to bottle...no problem. I love the wide shape of the bottle....SO easy to clean and the steralizer is such a great thing to have.
I highly recommend these bottles. Just make sure you put the cap on straight and you're totally set."

http://www.amazon.com

On this website, the Avent bottles received 3 stars after 11 reviews. Some of these comments include:

"It does not matter what we do, these leak. Sometimes it leaks from the hard plastic area that screws onto the bottle other times from the nipple itself. It does not matter what we do or how we do it and frankly who needs a full time project with screwing a nipple on in the middle of the night? These have leaked all over my purse and all over the baby. Just a complete mess."

"I am a huge fan of Avent bottles. I used the original Avent bottles then switched to Born Free (which leaked) so I switch back to Avent when the BPA Free bottles became available. I love Avent bottles b/c they are easy to clean, have several nipple options, come in several sizes, and the formula warms up better b/c of the wide shape. So when I saw Avent now has BPA Free bottles it was a no brainier for me to stock up!"

"I really tried to give AVENT bottles a chance, really. But after 7 weeks of leaks and stains on both baby, me and dad we threw in the towel. I did so much research to try and STOP the leaks, but with no luck. These bottles are great otherwise."

Hope this helps!!

I usually go to consumer reports (http://www.consumerreports.com) for ratings on nearly everything (including bottles).  However, you have to be a member. Another good reviewer for baby products is z recommends.

http://zrecs.blogspot.com

On a personal note, I used avent bottles with my last child. and hated them. They leak..big time. You have to screw the lids on just right (not too loose, not too tight). If not, you will lose half your milk. I do not recommend avent.

Here is a list of reviews I found.  I personally didn't care for these bottles. They leaked and gave my son severe gas.  Dr. Brown's worked great!

If you had asked me this about 8 months ago, I'd say the ratings weren't too good because these bottles were made with BPA. (A harmful chemical in the plastic that has been linked to cancer and growth problems.) Recently, almost all bottle manufacturers are making their bottles with no BPA. Avent is one of these companies.

I babysit a little boy and his mom uses Avent bottles and he does great with them. They have leaked a few times, but then I learned the trick to the nipple. (Twist it until it clicks, then twist back.)

While every baby is different, almost all of the reviews I have found have been positive. The only complaints I was able to find was that if you didn't put the top on right, it leaked.

I have listed some of the details of the Avent bottles and also some places where you can purchase them. Good luck and happy feeding!

  • Anti-colic valve flexes to allow air into bottle to prevent vacuun build-up. Air bubbles move away from nipple and into bottle, not into baby's tummy.
  • Naturally shaped nipple promotes proper latch-on
  • Wide bottle shape for easy filling and cleaning
  • Accurate feeding measurement markings on bottle
  • Dome cap seals nipple for spill-proof mixing and transportation

I found this review and it surprised me. The Avent bottles had pros and cons. On the good side they are easy to clean, easy to grip and are long lasting and durable! The bad news is that they may be linked to autism ( which i guess all plastic bottles can ) because of the BHP. They are also known to leak.
