What are the main problems? I just want to know so I can tell my mom that I want to get a better one instead of one at Walmart. I want to get a CHI btw. The Main Problems I can come up with are frying my hair not making may hair look nice and I had a few other ideas but I forgot them...maybe discoloration (if that's a word)? So why should I or should I not get a cheaper flat iron (I mean like $50 and under)? Thanks! :D And I have VERY thick (4.7 inch circumference in pony tail straightened) hair. It's not too wavy but it has some waves to it and it's always messed up. I want my hair to look nice shiny and silky. And I know I just asked this and I got one great answer I kinda wanted more though. hahaha....

There are no main problems with the CHI just the up front costs. I have had one for the last 3 years and I love it. I could never live without it.
Here is what I experienced before getting my CHI. I purchases several different store brands. They never starightened my hair well and they burned out within months. I ended up spending far too much money on straighteners. I could have just made on CHI purchase and not had to think about it anymore.
It does not fry your hair, well, no worse than anything else. My hair has remained healthy. The key is good shampoo and good products.
