You can tell if a webcam is good by reading the reviews. If there are a lot of reviews and the rating is still about 4 or above, then the webcam should be a decent buy. This does not mean that everyone will have the same experience with the webcam. If you are willing to pay $100 for a webcam then Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Web Camera is the best in that catergory. You get outstanding image quality and excellent sound quality, which are some important benefits that you look for in a webcam. In the $50 category, Microsoft RKA00001 LifeCam VX-5000 Webcam is the best with its built in microphone and image quality is good.
