The brand "Totes" used to make awesome black socks with little things on the bottom to prevent slipping but does anyone know if it might be possible to still get some from somewhere??

Here are a few sites that carry the anti-slip sock that you desire, unfortunately not the Tote brand unless you go on eBay.
They like to give these out to patients in the hospital the single Tread socks and they seem to be a pretty quality sock. Also might like the Foot Mitts for a warmer sock to try out. ; )

I know the socks you are talking about. I used to have some. They are great socks for wearing around the house, especially if you have wood/tiles floors. However, from what I can tell they are not currently being sold in the US in normal shops. You can order them from the UK from http://www.justsportandleisure.com and they will ship the the US.
If you want to order them within the US you can find them being sold on Ebay.
If you are happy for a similar sock that isn't made by Totes you will find slipper socks with grip on the bottom, without much trouble.
