my camera says it can use up to a 4mg sd card. Does that mean that it can use a 4mg card or just up to that?

If the camera says it can use up to a 4mg memory card, a 4mg would work fine in your camera. It is best to get the larger memory card so that you do not run out of room to store your pictures while out on a trip.
