You may have many drivers installed on your computer, but the drivers do not indicate which modem you have. To determine which modem you have, follow the appropriate steps below for your operating system.

In Windows XP default view, select Start, then Control Panel. In XP Classic View or Windows 2000, select Start, then Settings, and then Control Panel.
In XP Classic View or Windows 2000, double-click the Phone and Modem icon. If you are not in Classic View, click Switch to Classic View on the top of the left pane.
3.Click the Modems tab. You will see a list of all modems currently installed on your computer.
4.Highlight the modem for which you would like additional information and click the Properties button.
5. In the Properties window, click the Diagnostics tab. In the next window, click Query Modem.
6.Once the modem responds, you will see a list of different AT commands. (These are commands used by the computer to communicate with the modem.) Scroll down until you see "AT I3". Your modem type is displayed to the right of "AT I3". Windows 95, 98, or Me
