It's usually not the phone itself that busts your budget but the monthly charges. I found a great article comparing pay as you go to a monthly contract plan. Virgin Mobile has the strongest overall prepaid wireless offering across all tested categories. Virgin Mobile’s 30-day pay-as-you-go packs are especially compelling.

Boost Mobile also has some plans that are worth looking at. Again, no long term contract!

Finally, take a look at AT&T go phone. It's their answer to the pay-as-you go choices!

Hope this helps!

It depends on if you're looking for prepaid, post paid and how often you're going to use it.

To research prepaid phones, try checking out the prepaid phone reviews here. There are thousands of consumer reviews and they also offer a compare function where you can compare prepaid phone plans.

If you're in the market for a post paid phone, you can try doing research at http://www.About.com phone section.

Additionally, you can use this neat tool for comparing cell phone service by location (and not just by carrier) for both traditional and prepaid service.

Hope it helps.

I personally like Boost mobile. They have phones for about $30 to $100 and they have plans for $50 a month which includes unlimited minutes, text, and internet. You could go with cricket and pay around $35 - $40 a month for the same thing but the service with boost is much better and worth the extra money.
