Hi, and thank you for choosing IMShopping!

It is hard for me to tell since you can customize the Alienware laptop via Dell.  However, some have compared the two.  Check out this forum:

Here are some basic specs for the ASUS G51:

  • Intel Core i5-430M Processor 2.26 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53 GHz
  • 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM, 2 SODIMM Slots; 8GB Max
  • 500GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM); Super Multi Optical Disk Drive; Wi-Fi 802.11 bgn
  • 15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 LED LCD Display; NVidia GTS 360M Graphics Engine with 1GB DDR5 dedicated VRAM
  • Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Operating System; Bluetooth; 2.0MP Webcam; Backlit Chiclet Keyboard
For Alienware M17:

  • 2.0GHz Intel Core2 Quad Q9000 Processor
  • 4GB System Memory
  • 320GB Hard Drive; Dual Layer DVD Burner
  • 17.0" Display; Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - SLI Enabled
  • Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System (64-bit)
The Alienware M17 does tend to cost more than the ASUS as well.

I suggest breaking down every aspect you can on each to see what is better for.

I hope this helps some.  If you have more questions, ask IMShopping!
