Is it worth buying Apple's Apple TV if I already have Mac Mini hooked up to my TV

The big question is what does the Apple TV offer you that your already purchased and set up Mac Mini does not. The Apple TV offers HDMI output, a true one cable hookup for audio and video and is designed to work with TV’s out of the box. Mac minis do not necessarily work with TV’s without a bit of tweaking. Judging from your question you already have this issue taken care of. The only other advantage to the Apple TV is that it allows you to play back music, movies, tv, and anything else purchased from the iStores. A mac mini does not. All in all if you have been using mac mini and you like what you receive from it then there is no point in spending the $300 for the Apple TV. You basically already have one in the mac mini.
