The Wii sports that has tennis, baseball, bowling and boxing is an excellent simple game experience. Any of them will give you a work out.
Looking at the reviews for Showtime Championship Boxing is about the same but not as simply designed. You will get out what you put in. Here is the reivew:
" Sure, the game was an arcade-like parody but thanks to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk action, the fighting mechanics made for a fun little game. DSI games, in association with Showtime, bring gamers a boxing title that makes use of the Wii console’s controls. Showtime Championship Boxing has you lacing up and jumping into the ring but trust me when I say that the real workout will come from trying to get the controls to work."
The Don King got pretty bad reviews:
"Don King Boxing houses a decent concept and good intentions with motion control, but in the end it just doesn’t pay off. Boxing is one of the more demanding sports to try and bring motion control to, and while MotionPlus could change all that once is releases later this year, 2K China included just one control scheme in Don King, and it only sort of works. When Wii debuted, I assumed we’d see games with lots of control options, tons of preference tweaking, and the like. Instead, dozens of games come out each year that push forward with one sloppy control scheme, try to embrace it fully, and then fall flat. Granted the control is just one aspect of Don King Boxing, and the main story mode – while unique and promising for future titles – and lack of real in-ring intensity are also to blame, it seems silly to put so much work into a title, offer only one control setup, and then have it not be reliable. At least add in classic controller support in case the controls don’t work. The core Don King experience is decent, but flawed, and once you factor in only somewhat-reliable motion this one moves well into the “skip it” category."
Punchout got a little better reives
"What I liked so much about this game was that it plays more like real boxing. By no means is this a realistic boxing simulator, but it is a lot more realistic than the boxing game in Wii Sports. Instead of just wildly swinging all over the place, you have to stay on defense and only punch when you know you can land a hit. The game is designed to play this way, especially since the fighter you play is often hundreds of pounds lighter than his opponent. Going all the way back to the original game design for the NES, the whole game is about a little guy taking on the big boys by using speed and strategy instead of pure muscle."
So none are perfect and all will give you a work out. It depends on what you personally like though. I like the Sports one only because it comes with other good workout games that are a lot of fun and very easy to play.
