OK, so it looks as though you're looking for a touch screen with a qwerty keypad. There are many phones out there that you don't have to purchase directly from T-Mobile, they just have have to be unlocked and able to work with T-Mobiles network so that you can have access to all of it's features.
Other from the LG KS360 (unlimited web browsing $19.00), I want you to take a look at the G1 (unlimited web and messaging $34.99) and the HTC Touch Pro. My husband has had these phones and I have to say that these are pretty good phones. The only complaint I have with the htc phones is that there run by windows so whenever you want to go to a new application it takes a little while to open.
LG KS360 is packed with great messaging tools so you can chat to your friends any time and from anywhere. This is made easy with a QWERTY style keyboard for faster texting. Also features a 2.0 Megapixel camera, MP3 player, FM Radio, MPEG-4 Player, and a microSD card slot for extra storage.
The T-Mobile G1 with Google is an innovative PDA device manufactured by HTC that features the new Android operating system, a big touchscreen, a 3.2-MP camera, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and WiFi support; some say it represents the next generation of mobile devices. It offers one-touch access to Google, Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Calendar and Google Talk, all of which work best when the G1 is used within T-Mobile's 3G coverage area. We think this is a real winner.
The HTC Touch Pro brings together elegant touch screen response with the direct precision of keyboard entry… leaving out nothing to deliver a powerhouse communication tool in a beautiful, compact design. The 2.8-inch VGA touch screen provides four times the resolution of most smart devices, making email, documents and web pages sharper and easier to work with than ever before. HTC’s rich, touch-responsive interface, TouchFLO™ 3D, provides a stunningly intuitive way to zip through common tasks like messaging, calendar checks or making calls. Delve a little deeper to find that playing media files, searching for contacts and surfing the web are also responsive to your touch.
Another phone that is my personal favorite is the T-Moble Shadow (unlimited web browsing and messaging $19.95). It is not a touch screen nor does it have aqwerty like the others, but it is a very reliable phone.
The T-Mobile Shadow is designed with a spin navigation wheel and slide-out QWERTY-like keypad with predictive text for quick and easy messaging. It offers mobile coverage at home and unlimited calling from Wi-Fi networks or T-Mobile Unlimited HotSpot Calling service. It integrates hardware and software so users can access email and instant messaging with just one click and share music or photos from the myFaves home screen. The Shadow's 1.6-inch QVGA display views photos taken with the built-in 2.0-megapixel camera.
