I will soon be getting a laptop. I would like to get a Dell but what other brands would you recommend? Are Dells affordable and durable? What are the pros and cons of a Dell? Do they come in blue?

Dells come in about very color but not every model will be available in every color. As far as durability I say they are probably about average. The pros of a Dell is that Dell produces a wide variety of computers and they generally are on the more inexpensive side. The biggest con is I've had less than stellar experiences with Dell's service and tech support in my own experience. Dell and HP together are the dominant American PC companies, however the laptop market has become very competitive with Asian companies such as Toshiba, Sony, ASUS and Acer all producing good computers. Based on my own experience with their products and reliability I recommend you consider Toshiba for reliability. Toshiba laptops are generally not any more expensive than competing models either. That said, all PCs are built from the same components and I would weigh price, performance, and features more heavily than I would brand loyalty when it comes to computers. The computer I type this from is a Dell, however while its been the most problematic computer I've ever owned, its still going strong now on its third year after Dell finally repaired its faulty motherboard while it was still under warranty.
