I really need to brush up on my princess books. I don't know too much about Princess Diaries yet, but I can definitely find a book about a princess. I think you would really enjoy any book by the author, Alice Hoffman. Her stories are very romantic with fairy tale elements added in to them. My personal favorites are Here on Earth (not the same story as the movie by the same name), The Third Angel, The Probable Future, and Skylight Confessions. All of her books are wonderful though. Also, you might enjoy 'The History of Love' by Nicole Krauss. It is a beautiful love story.
