I want to read a book that you just can not put down that kind of changes you a little bit. I want to read something emotional dark troubling and just amazing with no vampires. My favorite books are Fight Club by Chuck P Go Ask Alice by Anonymous and Impulse Crank Glass Burned and Identical by Ellen Hopkins. I am currently reading Tweak: Growing Up On Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff. I was reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold but I couldn't wait to watch the movie and haven't picked it up since.

Attached product photo 30097052This War Called Love is the second collection of stories by American Book Award-winner Alejandro Murguia (Southern Front). Young Reymundo's idyllic life in 1950s Mexico City is interrupted by one tragedy after another in the richly detailed "Boy on a Wooden Horse." Although the eight subsequent stories don't quite measure up to this one, there are a few gems. In "Ofrendas," Reymundo is older, living in San Francisco's Mission District, mourning a lost friend on the Day of the Dead. The darkly humorous "Barrio Lotto," in which a bus driver and his psychic wife struggle to stay afloat financially, features an ending worthy of Roald Dahl.

Attached product photo 30097062Winberg Chai (Chinese Mainland & Taiwan) opens this engaging family saga with a mystery: at his mother's death, it was revealed that she had secretly arranged to be buried in "a spot where she would be encircled by strangers, where my father could not be buried beside her." The story of his quest to uncover her motivations is a breathtaking epic encompassing not only family dramas but also the Chinese civil war, the Japanese attack on Nanjing and the difficulties of immigration and return. The accomplishments of the book's main subject "Ruth" Tsao Chai are impressive; one of the first women to attend a Chinese university, she worked during World War II as an interpreter for Lady Mountbatten.
