Target has a few great options for a little girls diary. You can have a diary where she makes her own cover design and it comes with a lock or you can get a voice activated diary that she can only open by creating a password that she says when she wants it open.They even have basic diaries to start writing on immediately. Many choices.I have linked a few great ones for you to see. My daughter loved the electroni one and she is 13 years old now and I still hear her opening it to write things down.
