Did you know that Sony patented the Blu Ray player? So, basically you can't go wrong with a Sony. I like the Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player

Blu-ray discs look and sound terrific in this player. Sound is quite nice and expansive, even through the TV speakers. Upscaling is only ok, though. Honestly, my cheaper Memorex MVD 2045 - DVD player - upscaling looks better. I was also disappointed that the player doesn't dynamically change the aspect ratio for 4:3 DVDs, the way my Panasonic DMR-ES35VS DVD Recorder / VCR Combo with DV Input does. TV shows on DVD appear in 16:9 stretch-o-vision, and I have to change the aspect ratio on the TV to watch the DVD. Still, these are nitpicks, and there are easy and inexpensive solutions. I got this primarily to play Blu-Ray discs, and they look and sound great!
