I'm looking for a doll around the size of a Barbie (eleven inches) but I don't want to instill a child with an unrealistic and unhealthy body image. Is anyone familiar with a company that makes dolls in the shape of normal-looking women (and men for that matter). It would be so cool to give a child a fun toy with no chance of emotional screwed-up-edness. Thank you!

This is a great question!  I spent a little time doing some research on this subject online, because even though I loved Barbie as a kid, I agree with you in that Barbie definitely does give us a warped vision of what women look like!

Well, these aren't 11 inches,  but American Girls are great dolls! They aren't stick thin with caked on make-up either. They cost 95 bucks but are well worth the money, adn are collectibles as well! This company also makes "bitty baby" and "bitty twins" for younger kids.
