Softened water still contains all the natural minerals that we need. It is only deprived off its calcium and magnesium contents, and some sodium is added during the softening process.Laundry detergent, shampoo and soap is much more effective in softened water and you will notice this when you shampoo your hair.I recently stayed at a hotel where they softened their water and I notice a huge difference in the shower, but I wasn't thrilled with the taste of the tap water when I made coffee in the room. Also it's not advised that you prepare baby formula with softened water. I would recommend a different drinking water system. The type of softener you get depends on the size of your house and what level of softening and filtration you desire. There are small systems from several hundred dollars to systems that you can purchase for several thousand dollars.
