Twilight – Not just a movie but much more

When did vampires become sexy, anyway?
Judging from all the questions concerning the phenomenon that is “Twilight,” I’d say it happened when Stephanie Meyer changed the vampire genre from scary to romantic with her series of incredibly romantic novels concerning the travails of an extremely handsome vampire and the mortal girl that fell in love with him.
The four Twilight novels have gained worldwide recognition, won multiple literary awards and sold over 70 million copies worldwide. They’ve also been translated into 39 languages, and Meyer sold 29 million books in 2009 alone! While you have to love a book that gets young people reading, it’s apparent that there’s one other group of people who are enjoying America’s love affair with vampires, and that’s anyone who was smaret enough to get in on the merchandising of items from this movie and book series.
We’ve found that visitors to IMshopping aren’t only looking for the books, but they’re looking for dolls, clothing, and anything else that can keep that Twilight dream alive. There are even questions about where to buy jewelry and clothing that look like the jewels and clothes worn by the girl every girl wants to be, Belle. It’s funny, the Twilight movie came out some time ago, and even while fans are anxiously awaiting its sequel, it seems that the hype around the movie and books has created a marketing dream for the owners of this franchise.
This craze isn’t about to die off anytime soon (and if you think about it, it would be weird for it to die. Don’t vampires live forever?)
Wouldn’t you know it, though, just in time for Christmas comes the one item that all Twilight fans will love to have, and that’s the Twilight Edward and Bella dolls. Mattel is releasing these eagerly awaited dolls on Nov. 1, just in time for Christmas shoppers to fight over the series. You can already preorder them in several locations, such as on Amazon.com, and they’re a kind-of-reasonable $25 or so each.
However, if you’re buying for a true collector of the movies, Tonner has a fine set of these dolls already available. They’re very true to detail, and they’re really not toys for your younger fan like the Mattel dolls will be. They run about $130 each, and they’d really be a great addition to a Twilight lover’s collection.
The Twilight craze is so huge, it’s spawned off a lot of other movies and television shows. If you are a fan of this genre, you might also like the HBO series Tru Blood a lot to. However, I get the feeling that it’s not the vampire that the readers and fans of Twilight are in love with. I think it’s the shaggy-haired pretty boy Robert Pattison that’s getting everybody’s pulse racing!
What do you think? Do you think the Twilight craze will keep on going or it will come to an end soon? Are you in love with the whole genre, or just the romance of it? And most of all, do you know where to get all your Twlight gear? You will if you’re following IMshopping!
