Green linen means that your linen was made using organic materials and made with ecology in mind. Green linen comes in everything from bedsheets and pillowcases to comforters and throws. You can find green linen baby blankets and sheet sets, too. There are even green linen bath towels on the market.

Several of the major linen manufacturers are now producing green linen products. These products are termed green linen because they are made of 100% organic cotton and are monitored from the beginning of the cotton seed until they are shipped to your green linen retailer for sale.

One of the things you can look for when shopping for green linen is the SKAL Certification. The SKAL Certification assures the buyer that the green linen product is made of materials that were grown entirely organically by testing soil and water in the field as well as overseeing the farming processes of the growers. SKAL is a Dutch organization that has been inspecting and overseeing organic farming practices around the world since 1985. You can tell that your green linen products are SKAL certified by the label, which is a circle with the word “EKO” in the middle of it.

Another certification you may find on green linen products is the AGRECO Certification. AGRECO inspects and oversees the organic production and organic processing methods to ensure that products are made with the highest ecological integrity. AGRECO is a German company that certifies organic textiles and clothing products and is highly sought after for green baby linen and clothing products.

You can find green linen products at local retailers but you may have to search for them because most retailers unfortunately don’t yet have a specific section for green products. Even if your retailer does carry a line of green linens, but they are not separated from the rest, ask them to do so. They might not change it for you, but if enough people show the retailer that they want to be able to find their green products quickly, they might just make the change.

Alternatively, you can shop online for your green linen products. They are much easier to find online because there are specialty shops that only sell green products and your search will take you right to them. You can often save money on green products when shopping online, too.
